About Emu Publications
Emu Publications create reading resources for Indigenous, ESL and early childhood students. Emu Publications also create lively and educational products for tourism markets. At Emu Publications we pride ourselves on creating books that meet the needs of specific audiences.
Tanya Dique, Director
Tanya has been a teacher for 17 years, in schools across the Kimberley, Pilbara and metropolitan schools. Tanya enjoyed the challenge
of teaching young Aboriginal kids and gained knowledge and experience about the importance of teaching the specifics of Standard Australian English to children who speak English as a second language or dialect. A lover of great books, Tanya is excited by the prospect of producing interesting books with lively illustrations for early students.
Pete Grantham, Director
Pete began teaching Aboriginal children in 1996 at Jigalong Remote Community School, the first of four remote teaching appointments in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia over a total of nine years. Pete couples an understanding of the literacy needs of students with English as a second language with a love of cartooning to produce high interest texts that are distinctly Australian, fun and engaging for beginning readers everywhere.
